Local Teen Captures First Place In WSA Surf Competition
By Judy Smestad-Nunn
OCEAN COUNTY - Jackson teen Jessica Kwiecinski recently scored big in a California surf competition. After four years of hard work, training and winning contests up and down the East Coast, Jessica has taken her surfing to the next level. She recently went out to San Clemente to compete, to gain experience and improve her surfing, as California is home to many talented female surfers and the competition is much tougher than here on the East Coast. Although Jess currently holds district and regional titles, as well as being the winner of the Belmar Pro in September, winning in California seemed a long way off. Jessica took first place in San Clemente in a WSA surf competition, beating out some top surfers. Jessica is sponsored by Body Glove, Future Fins, Waterman’s sunblock, Easterlines Surf Shop of Belmar and ERGO.
